Passenger in city taxi blaze drama. A TAXI DRIVER and his passenger escaped unhurt when their vehicle burst into flames. The private hire cab was travelling along Jamaica Street in Glasgow when the incident happened. A female passenger was on her way to Govanhill. She and the driver, who is in his late 40s and works for A Cars/Croft, both escaped uninjured. A spokeswoman for the taxi firm said: "Our driver is safe and well. It appears his engine blew up. He was in slight shock so we sent another driver down to give him moral support." Three fire engines, an ambulance and the police were called to the scene. The road was temporarily closed following last night's drama but reopened a short time afterwards. A police spokeswoman said: " A car was on fire at Jamaica Street blocking traffic. The fire service put out the flames and nobody was injured." A TAXI DRIVER and his passenger escaped unhurt when their vehicle burst into flames.
