POLICE have appealed for witnesses after a 39-year-old man was assaulted with an "irritant spray" in Edinburgh.
The incident happened between 3.05pm and 3.15pm on Monday, 5 April, in the Drumbrae South area of the city following an argument between the drivers of a Fiat Croma and a private hire vehicle.

The complainer was driving his Fiat car southwards towards the roundabout when he was almost involved in a collision with the private hire vehicle.

Both motorists argued while in their vehicles before pulling over near to the roundabout and Bank of Scotland.

The man exited his vehicle and approached the private hire car. The driver of the private hire car then rolled down his window and sprayed him in the face with the unknown liquid before driving off.

The man suffered redness and irritation to his face and eyes but was not seriously injured.

Police are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.

The suspect is described as white, between 45 and 55-years-old with short brown but greying hair and a medium build. He was wearing a blue top and spoke with what was described as a Scottish accent.

The only description of the private hire vehicle is a saloon car.

A police spokesman said: "Following the near collision both me have become involved in a dispute that has resulted in the use of an irritant substance that has left the victim with irritation and discomfort to his face.

"Anyone who was in the Drumbrae South area at the time of the incident and witnessed anything suspicious is asked to contact police immediately.

"We are continuing to attempt to locate the driver of the private hire vehicle and would ask that he make himself known to police as soon as possible."

Anyone with any information can contact Lothian and Borders Police on 0131 311 3131, or Crimestoppers in confidence and complete anonymity on 0800 555 111.

If the driver of the Ph, is sitting in his car and, the liquid is squirted through his open window, the guys face must have been pretty damn close.

What's the bet the guy made a grab at the Ph driver, before he was sprayed in the face?
