DETECTIVES are appealing for the public's help to find two men after a taxi driver's vehicle was stolen at gunpoint in Beeston Rylands last night.
The driver called police at around 10.50pm after he was kicked and punched by the men, who also threatened him with what police believe was a black handgun. The men then stole his taxi, a silver Toyota Avensis, his mobile phone and wallet.
The driver had picked the men up near The Jolly Higglers pub on Ilkeston Road in Radford, and had taken them to an unnamed road that runs parallel to Canal Side in Beeston Rylands, where they attacked him.
The first man has been described as white, 5ft 10in tall, and aged between 35 and 40. He was wearing dark jogging bottoms and dark sunglasses.
The second man was also white and aged between 35 and 40. He was 6ft 2in tall and was wearing grey jogging bottoms.
The victim's car was found abandoned by officers on Baslow Drive in Lenton Abbey at about 11.10pm, and has been recovered for forensic examination.
The taxi driver suffered minor injuries but did not require hospital treatment.
