Another sad tale proving how dangerous the job really is.

I wonder if it would have happened if the vehicle had CCTV? :?

The chap wasn't in his taxi, he was in the street. He just happens to be a taxi driver.

It is thought the gun was fired through the seat by someone sat in the back of his private hire cab. The bullet went into his lower back and out through his front, causing massive internal injuries.

It's always been one of my concerns that an attack will come through from the back of my seat and I have often wondered if there is no way to somehow protect against such things. His family and loved ones must be distraught now and I hope he makes a full recovery

There would be no problem actually fitting a steel or aluminium plate into the back of the drivers seat. I don't know how thick it would need to be to stop a bullet at close range but anything up to say 2mm would stop a knife from being pushed through. The seat would need to be removed and the cover taken off, fit the plate and replace the cover.
