Cab Drivers Get Javits Center Invitation Email This Story Print This Story Jan 18, 2005 6:48 am US/Eastern (1010 WINS) NEW YORK Officials at the Javits Center have thought of a new way of attracting taxis to their often-ignored locale. The pilot progam dubbed ``Taxi Appreciation Days,'' which began yesterday, had dozens of cab drivers come to the convention center for free giveaways, a raffle, a heated trailer and portable toilet access. The program continues through today and cab drivers who come to the center will get free hats, snacks and drinks and can enter a 250-dollar raffle. Attendees at the National Retail Federation conference, which is currently meeting at the Javits said they also appreciate the cabbies presence because there are many more cabs for them to use. |
