Comic admits taxi driver assault Ford Kiernan admitted attacking the taxi driver Chewin' the Fat star Ford Kiernan has admitted attacking a taxi driver in Glasgow in a road rage incident. Kiernan, 42, punched William Kerr and dragged the driver from his vehicle following a row in a supermarket car park on 30 October. The actor did not appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court, but his lawyer admitted two assault charges on his behalf. Sheriff Brian Lockhart deferred sentence until next month and ordered Kiernan to attend the next hearing. Kiernan, of Dowanhill, Glasgow, admitted attacking Mr Kerr in Sutcliffe Road, Anniesland, by punching him on the head. The star also admitted dragging the driver from his vehicle onto the road. The incident was reported to police and Kiernan, who rose to fame alongside comedy partner Greg Hemphill in the series Chewin the Fat and Still Game, was later charged. It is believed the assault happened after tempers flared as both men tried to get out of the busy supermarket car park. |

Interesting posts el capitano just goes to show your more likely to come to harm with a "Normal" person than you would be with someone suffering from schizophrenia, it will be interesting to see how the sentencing turns out for both offences, one that appeals to the hysterical fears of a nation,and one carried out by an hysterical person. |

Still Game star fined £3,500 GRANT MCCABE THE actor and comedian Ford Kiernan, star of the BBC’s Chewin’ the Fat and Still Game, was fined £3,500 yesterday for a vicious road rage attack on a taxi driver. Kiernan, 42, punched William Kerr after a row outside a supermarket in Anniesland, Glasgow, leaving him in need of hospital treatment. Looking embarrassed as he left Glasgow Sheriff Court after admitting the attack, Kiernan told reporters: "Let’s just say I don’t want to see another courtroom for a while." The incident, on 30 October last year, happened after the actor stopped outside a Safeway store as his wife bought Hallowe’en treats for their children. Mr Kerr pulled up and told him he was in an area usually reserved for taxis. The court heard a row erupted and Mr Kerr shouted at Kiernan, asking if he thought he was "the Big Man" - one of the actor’s characters. Mr Kerr drove off but as he waited in traffic a raging Kiernan pulled up behind him, leapt out his car and punched him through the open window of his vehicle. Joe McKenna, prosecuting, said Kiernan tried to race off, but Mr Kerr managed to block him in. Kiernan, then screamed "you p***k" and "you f***er" before hitting Mr Kerr again. Mr Kerr was treated in hospital for swelling to his head and eye. The court heard Kiernan punched Mr Kerr only because his children had been upset at their father being abused. |
