wont happen the way he sees it...

not with these...

Quote:
:: A cut in fuel duty and road tax;

:: A governing body to develop and implement a long-term strategy for maintaining and enhancing the road network;

:: A guaranteed sum of revenue put aside to pay for the work and a regulator to ensure the work was done efficiently;

:: More reliable journey times and compensation for delays.

i saw hardly anyone today, was 10 minutes faster than normal without rushing, road pricing will/may be installed on trunk roads, so we will all head into the country!

PLUS, it will take 10 years to implement and ill be retired....enjoy it and let me know how it goes!

Be a real bugger though....you'd need a ready reckoner to work out the price of each road, the mileage you drive on it and the time of day travelled..or even part of the road travelled at different time rates...then you would need to do the same in reverse. Now thats just to give a price for a Job. Should you actually do the run and the passenger says theyed like a detour then the above analogy is guffed. Then....should you get a return run via some other point then your prices are all guffed again....you can nearly smell the meter smoking with its GPS computer having a bad hair day.

Oh..and bear in mind these prices will be higher than the equivelant price per mile that you would expect to pay via fuel duty..theyed have to be as the whole idea is to price cars off the road to avoid congestion in the first place.

It might be a nice little saver to aunty aggie in her nissan micra doing 2000 miles a year....but it will be a real killer to you professional drivers covering 50,000 miles a year.

Maybe wise to Bludgeon your constituency MP in to submission now rather than wait until its to late.. :?

There was something on the local news today about it being 1p a mile, a trip to London will be £1.40 - £1.50 depending, it won't be in the hundreds.

I'd happily pay the toll if it meant good roads, no road tax and low fuel duty. I can't see it somehow can you??

When it was being discussed before the price per mile on motorways was a lot more than 1p per mile. I think that figure would be for a journey on country roads at about 4.00 am.

Good idea Mr Skippy41.

And when the WAV proportions are decided by the Minister & you have to have one & then decide to jump ship to PH to avoid having a WAV, you can pay double tolls on the roads you use!!

Thought out by Skippy, proposed by Skippy to screw Skippy!!

I hope you haven't signed an organ donor form at your local neurosurgical hospital!!

Le Havre to Toulouse in May was just over 20 Euros, about 2 hours short of the Med!

whilst i agree the frogs rip us off with thier tolls to spain (we pay them, they dont pay to use our roads) i would say that ive driven down twice for holidays, calais-rheims-lyon-narbonne-le perthus, 850 miles (3400 miles) and seen 2 cop cars, 1 traffic jam and 1 accident, tolls keep the junction jumpers on the A roads (well, N roads in france)

oh, and ONE radio station frequency all the way for traffice news...

It wont happen.

Politicians like power, and adopting a policy like this will mean no power for those that propose and vote for it. :wink:
