Some on here wonder why Newport council and the drivers never get on. I worked in Newport four 4 years before going to Cardiff and drivers used to ask what the difference was. My answer was in Newport they will kill you for 10p! in Cardiff they will throw £30 at you! So the council now throw it to the public to decide as to whether they want to pay any more as opposed to backing one of the lowest tariffs in the country.

How about, if they are a de-restricted council with regard to plate numbers they de-regulate with regard to tariffs. That would bring in true market forces and the public could decide for themselves then, which taxi to use :D

Toots you really have to know Newport...............A lot of the public take meanness to a new lower level, and if left to the public they would have the drivers on the lowest of low or possibly lower  ............if you ever come this way you will find the M4 goes albeit slowly, 50mph around Newport..............just keep on going, do not stop as it is not altogether a nice place.

I used to go to Newport on a regular basis to the Wilkinson Depot. I found the people there were arrogant and wouldn't give you the time of day.

There must be a lot of ex Londoners living there, that sums them up nicely.

I've got family that way and they don't seem mean. Having said that my grandfathers second wife is Welsh and she's tight as a jews ass

I do not like "rap, crap" or whatever you want to call it.............but I did like this. But! they will not be able to paper over the cracks "Newport City Centre" at night will be a blessing in disguise for Cardiff when the "Ryder Cup" rolls into town

The accent is more "Valleys" than Newport, besides nobody from Newport could say the 20 odd letter word (me neither), unfortunately most can only manage four letter words. Definitely not people who live in Newport doing that video.

A quote from the paper concerned.

Quote:
The London actors, who have been inundated with requests for TV and newspaper interviews, said they have been overwhelmed by its overnight success after being posted on Monday.
