Drunk jailed for three years after robbing taxi driver and stealing food from store

A drunk who robbed a taxi driver of his takings has been jailed for three years.
Mark Low, who was released on licence from a previous 21-month prison sentence just days earlier, held taxi driver Mohammed Mazhar, 42, from behind while another man punched him in the eye after he took them from Whaplode to Park Lane in Holbeach.
Phil Howes, prosecuting, told Lincoln Crown Court the two men made off with Mr Mazhar's £70 takings, but were traced from CCTV footage taken at Whaplode Co-op store where they had asked staff to ring for the cab.
He told the court Low attracted attention in the shop because he was drunk and he had to continually pull up his trousers to prevent them from falling down.
When the CCTV footage from the store was examined it was discovered Low had stolen food including a packet of cocktail sausages he ate while still inside the store and a carton of coleslaw, which he hid down his trousers.
Low, 23, of Low Lane, Holbeach, admitted robbery and theft from a shop on March 9 this year.
