Two charged with gunpoint taxi robbery

Two men are to go on trial after a taxi driver was robbed at gunpoint.

Abdul Sharah, 18, of Mauldeth Road West, Withington, and Omar Samli, 21, of Taylorson Street, Ordsall, are charged with robbery.

They appeared before Salford Magistrates' Court on Friday, August 6, and were remanded in custody.

They entered no plea and will appear at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court on October 18.

At 12.50am on Thursday, August 5, police were called to Ordsall Lane, Ordsall, following reports a taxi driver had been robbed at gunpoint.

Officers attended and discovered a taxi driver had been robbed after picking up two men outside a restaurant in Rusholme and recovered what is believed to be a pellet gun nearby.
