Friday morning a driver was arrested in Stamford and held in the cells for the day after being accused of stealing a wallet. The wallet was allegedly left in a toilet at the local 24hr BP and according to CCTV the driver was the next one to use the toilet 10 minutes later

The police searched the car and driver and did not find the money or wallet and the driver is adamant he didn't find the wallet and that the toilet had only just been flushed when he went into the loo.

This is shaping up to be an interesting little mystery as this driver although a bear of very little brain is considered by most of us to be an honest cabbie.

As they say watch this space

I would say the driver is innocent, 10 minutes is a long time, how can they be sure it was left in the toilet. How can they arrest a man on these accusations with no evidence except a video showing that he went to a toilet

As they only have the word of the "owner" of the wallet, that he left it in there, what possible evidence can they bring to bear that he lifted it? Something stinks, and it's not the lavvie

He'll be OK if any judge sees that he'll throw it out.

I doubt this will get that far but the driver did lose a days takings and spent 5 hours locked in a cell and I do wonder if the reaction of Lincolnshire police would have been as strong if it hadn't been a cabbie

Pound to a pinch of sh*t (sorry about the pun), the wallet loser is a councillor or someone with a lot of 'pull'!!

If you or I lost a wallet in these circumstances, I wonder if the police would 'pull out all the stops' for us?
