Well the hackneys were granted but the bad news is we will have to put a proper wheelchair acsesible on only stipulated cars will pass eg vw, tx2, eurotaxi the bottom line is only cars that come from the manufactures will pass not cars like the doblo, seeminly that will have to be converted they will have to come from the factory already converted.

Don't know what to make of it give your views on this please.

The others are conversions too - only the TX2 could be said not to be a conversion, I think :?

But many LAs won't license the Doblo as a WAV, and it seems unlikely that it would meet the Disability Discrimination Act spec, when it's actually finalised.

I know it's a wild suggestion, and may be a stab in the dark.

I take that all back then.

However are you saying that everytime a new vehicle comes out, councillors have to approve it? :?

What about new people?

Do they have to go before councillors prior to getting their licenses, or is it deemed that vehicle types are more important than drivers? :?

Thank f*** I'm many hundreds of miles away. :(

As with the new applicants this time round we had to go in front of the committee it was up to them if we were granted or not so i believe all new apps are to go in front of them the carry on with cars will put a few people off but i'm not going to worry about it until i know for definite what is happening pending the appeal that dta have brought.

I understand that's what happens for prospective HC owners, but what about HC driver? Surely new drivers don't have to go before the committee?

If they don't, then one assumes that they have delegated powers to officials, to deem who is fit and proper.

Well, if officials are allowed to decide this, then surely they should be able to decide on what's a proper vehicle?

If and when the trade disagree with officials, then the committee should be the place to appeal to.

From where im looking it appears that thecouncil dont trust there LOs to do the job they are being paid for.
And the councillors like to stick there noses in at every occasion.
But when you read the stories from Dundee. The first sentance is obvious and the next is about time too.

Sounds to me like the councillors are just making a bit of a song and dance about, just for effect.
