Men released after taxi hijack arrests


POLICE have released three men on bail after a taxi driver was assaulted in Crawley.

A 19-year-old man from Crawley, arrested on suspicion of robbery, taking a motor vehicle without consent and drink-driving, has been released on police bail until 17 October.

A 17-year-old male from Crawley, arrested on suspicion of robbery, and a 30-year-old man from Poole, Dorset, have also both been released on police bail until 17 October.

Two other men arrested in connection with the incident will have not further action taken against them.

The five men were arrested shortly after midnight on 21 September following reports that a taxi driver had been assaulted in Charlwood Road and had his taxi stolen.

The taxi was found nearby crashed into a ditch.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Sussex Police on 0845 60 70 999 quoting serial 31 of 21/9.
