why just a cab tho, its a limited market, 22000 sales by 2020 is peanuts, thats IF they make em affordable it proves a LECCY car could work (needing speed and range) if only they embraced all available charging methods, KERS, solar, onboard genny, etc,etc... the fact is the oil companies will buy it all up and sink it |

Maybe I'm just a cynic but I'll bet it will quickly start to cost more if this idea catches on.

There is no chance of this vehicle "catching on ". The American government have abandoned Hydrogen car production. It is to expensive. A car the size of a toyota prius has been tested in california, the cost 60,000 per unit. These cabs will cost about 80 grand. Dozens will be on the road for the Olympics but it is just a gimic, and they will be funded by TfL. |

I agree the LTI initiative is a gimmick. As soon as the Olmpics are over the handfull of hydrogen cabs will be pulled. The technology is sound, but while oil companies continue to lobby and backroll political parties, especially in the US, the chance of getting it to the wider masses is doomed. If you haven't seen 'Who killed the electric car ?', it's a documentary about how a perfectly viable electric vehicle was deliberatley killed off. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Who_Killed ... ric_Car%3F I for one am fed up driving around in a cloud of smoke. |

My dad used to tell me about a man he knew who invented an engine that would run on water just after the war. That was bought by a big company and killed off. |

a small turbine which charges batteries....wow, and it took em HOW long to figure that one? the "jet" engine does not drive the car forward, its simply a generator to charge the batterries and/or provide extra power to the 4 drive motors http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/ ... -200K.html |

there was also an inventor in north America who came up with the same innovation about 10 years ago but it dissapeared again I think it was a sort of fuel cell in which the water was reacted with other chemicals to give off electricity to power the car as to wether it was a practical proposition is another matter I believe the inventor was not prepared to divulge much info |

isnt the theory that electricty can "split" water (H20) into hydrogen and oxygen and the hydrogen can be a fuel source whilst the oxygen is safe to release into the atmosphere? http://www.spiritofmaat.com/archive/wat ... 20car2.htm |

this runs for SIX hours on one gallon of u/leaded (£6 say) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Generator-850W-Gr ... 2a0a6df84c if i had a leccy car which used it as a secondary (standby) charger (mains being first choice) and the batteries were charged then by the genny, thats (at 30mph) 180 miles on £6 of fuel (or just call it 180mpg).... cant be that simple can it |
