Post subject:  CRT, AGM – 2011

Word on the grapevine is CRT's, AGM, kicks off on January 23, 2011.

I hear that someone has submitted a proposal for fixed term committee positions. I've also heard that the Murray, Purnel and Co. are trying to use their proxy vote system to shoot the proposal down.

Apparently, the very same proposal is to be made at the City Cabs AGM, also.

May you live in interesting times ...

:D

Reminds me of my time with Edinburgh Junior Chamber of Commerce.

The group elected the Vice President. Following year Vice President automatically became President. President became Past President.

There were many advantages.

Those offering themselves for election as Vice President set out their objectives. These were considered by the members who then voted for their preferred candidate.

The person elected Vice President had a year to prepare for the presidency. Objectives were set out and performance was measured against achievement of those objectives.

The position of Past President ensured that there was always experience retained on the board.

Because a member only had three years at the head of the organisation control was retained by the members. No select group could be formed to take control away from the members. Fresh ideas were always brought in, and experience was retained to help steer the president during the year of his/her presidency.

There were no proxy votes. Only members attending the meeting were allowed to vote to promote interest and involvement. Everyone felt part of their organisation.

I had a brilliant time in Junior Chamber where I became a Director.

Warm memories.

Which also explains why Murray, Purnel and Co. want to shoot the proposal down. Imagine actually being forced to represent the views of your members, now there's a novelty.

Our informants tell us that the failure of the merger proposal wasn't because it's not a good idea, just that City Cabs' members are not interested in falling under the heels of Central's committee and those on it.

Fleming, Purnell, Anderson and dumb and dumber's conduct is legion. They're well known.

It would be little more than corporate masochism for City to roll over and be controlled by them. City's members know this full well.

Word is that unless and until these guys are history, the Groom is always gonna be reluctant.

One thing's for sure, if Central's members have any real ambition to move the Company forward then it has to be time to look at the proxy vote arrangements and who is really in control of the Company - the committee members or all the members.

In short, who's company is it?

This could be an opportunity for both committees to prove that their members come first. Fixed-terms in office would hand back control to the members they claim to represent. Surely, both committees must back such a proposal?

I know it's hard to believe but the majority of CRT's members think that those on the committee actually give a f*ck.

Most of their members are so dumb, they couldn't pour pi** out of a boot if the instructions were written on the sole. :-k Which probably explains how they were elected onto committee in the first place.

Enter the slave, Chipper.

Still desperate to be part of the herd Chip? Think about all that status and identity. You might even get a wee CRT logo badge.

Just think Chip, you won't even have to think your own thoughts, not that you ever did.
