Taxi Driver Online

I'm looking for numbers of taxis and private hire cars in the city areas of Scotland, along with population figures and whether or not licences are restricted.
If you have more than one zone, add the figures together.

e.g.

Aberdeen

Taxis 1020* unrestricted
PH 300*
Population 210,400

(*figures are approximate, based on the best data available)

Any help appreciated.

This is from PHM. I think the councils highlighted in yellow are restricted.

First port of call is usually the Scottish Transport Statistics:

If you're comparing numbers in restricted/unrestrictred areas then be careful, because some councils - such as P&K - have restricted and unrestricted zones, so since the figures cover the whole council area they can be misleading.

I see they're publishing WAV figures these days, which is interesting. For example, Aberdeenshire has 42 WAV PH but the City doesn't have any

The number of PH drivers' licences can also be misleading, because in some areas like Aberdeen City you need a taxi driver's licence to drive a PH unless it's just long distance stuff, or however they define it?

Hence only 2 PH driver's licences in Aberdeen City, despite over 200 vehicles.

Regards numbers maybe we should be taking our argument to the Scottish Parliament and ask them to instruct our great minds who they seek guidance from to create a formula based on head of population, industry, unemployment and take into account whether you have a University or tourism or anything else that generates monies in your licence area. Once the number is defined then again allow a percentage of the overall HC licences number to then create a percentage of that number to PH. If every LA has to abide by such findings then they wouldn't have to worry about being in court defending their decision to refuse or grant a licence maybe then the trade can have a legal formula that everybody has to abide by its not rocket science lets lobby the people at the top who really can make a change?

Why does the taxi trade need any restriction?

Is it because we've become so wedded to government protection that we couldn't function without it?

Isn't it time the taxi trade got real?

Isn't it time that our customers got a better deal?

Jasbar your like a broken record we are not the only market that has to be regulated so do pubs off licenses supermakets and lots more to mention, not everything is allowed to find its level with market force, and public safety is paramount above all else or would you like them to find away of putting in tacagraghs in your cab I think not.
