Kevin Wood was yesterday elected to Central's committee. He is the hope of a significant section of the membership to bring change.

Frank Lay sums it up excellently in his post on the fanny forum. I trust he will not object to my copying it here.

Well, to start, good luck to the guy.

But it has to be said that for change to occur there needs to be more than just one change of face, there needs to be at least 3 or 4.

The trouble when it is just one new guy there is the possibility of one of the following scenarios happening.

1- The new guy is simply sidelined by the old faces and its SNAFU.
or
2- The new guy gets drawn into the same practices of the old faces and its SNAFU.

I do hope these things do not happen, but I wont hold my breath.

There are people on the committee that see CRT as their personal company to do what they want with, and the AGM is just a little inconvenience on the way.
But it is the memberships own fault as most are happy just to vote for "the devil they know" out of pure apathy.

Perhaps a system where you can only hold a position on the committee for a set number of years before standing down would help. It works well in many other places, the US president being an example.

All there is to add is that it's reported that the vote to exend the fleet to 600 cars was defeated. A separate vote to extend it to 450 was also defeated.

This is a significant defeat for the machinations of Murray and his gang.

Who knows, Murray's coat, along with Purnel and Pentland, could just be on a shoogly peg?

Then the members would get their company back.
