If you can't get a job in McDonalds, drive a courier van.

I rate them in the same league as London Bus drivers, they share a lot in common.

Don't speak English.

Don't know where they are going.

Drive partly wrecked vehicles, and don't care if they damage your pride and joy.

And I still hope his cellmate is Jamaican and gay, and I'd even go further and say I hope he's related to the 80's porn icon Mr King Dong.

The trial came to a sudden end today. The jury was discharged and the Judge ordered a retrial. I know the reason, because I know the victim.

May be best to say no more at the moment, due to sub judice.

Jury took thirty minutes to clear the defendant. :sad:

A smashed hip and a permanent limp insufficient evidence of an attack.

The injured party is to say the least devastated at the result.

The systems a farce and needs sorting out.

That's because most jury’s are made up of cretins.

Those with any modicum of intelligence get themselves off jury duty with a reasonable exscuse, leaving insane megalomaniacs, and bored unemployed students judging often complex trials.

I did Jury Service back in the late 80's for 2 whole weeks, it was a fraud case where the gang scammed Barclaycard for over £3million. There was some good people sat on our bench who took everything in.

I'd do it again tomorrow.

Van driver denies road rage attack which left cab driver with a broken hip Wednesday, February 23, 2011, 07:00 Van driver Shane Hindmarsh left a cabbie in agony with a broken hip after lashing out in a road rage incident, a jury was told. Hindmarsh reacted after taxi driver David Smalley sounded his horn when he found his way blocked at Beevor Street traffic lights. Gregor Purcell, prosecuting, told the jury at Lincoln Crown Court Mr Smalley wanted to drive on to Green Lane to avoid the lights. But after he mounted the kerb to drive past Hindmarsh the van driver's response was to manoeuvre his vehicle in front of the taxi. Mr Purcell said: "The defendant got out of his van and went around to the door of Mr Smalley's taxi." Hindmarsh pulled open the door and wrenched the key out of the ignition with such force that he broke the key. "He then threw the keys on to the road. It is clear that at this point he was in a fury." The jury heard Mr Smalley left his cab to pick up his keys but was attacked by Hindmarsh. Mr Purcell said: "This defendant set on Mr Smalley and punched him in the stomach." "He then pushed Mr Smalley over. Mr Smalley hit the ground. He fractured his hip and he was left there in agony. The defendant got into his vehicle and drove off." Passers-by called the police and an ambulance before giving assistance to Mr Smalley. The cabbie underwent an operation and spent six days in hospital. Hindmarsh was traced after a witness recorded the registration plate of his van. When he was later interviewed, Hindmarsh claimed Mr Smalley punched him first and he acted in self defence. In evidence, Mr Smalley denied he was in a hurry and said he only tooted his horn because Hindmarsh's van was blocking his way forward. He said: "He hit me in the chest with a clenched fist. It had a very painful effect." "Then he pushed me over and I fell on to the road. I wasn't able to move at all. I was in a tremendous amount of pain." Hindmarsh, 42, of Cottingham Drive, Lincoln, denies inflicting grievous bodily harm on July 31, last year. The jury was told he has admitted criminal damage to Mr Smalley's car keys. I'm amazed the police bothered to investigate Lincolnshire police are the most anti taxi driver police force in the country I've yet to know of a single crime against a cabbie ever being investigated at this end of the county although they routinely pull cabbies in for questionimg for just about every other incident !

But the compensation you would receive in lieu of working would be peanuts, hence the reason most people try to get out of it, and usually do. Then (with all due respect to yourself !!) the defence pick out the jurors they don't like the look of, usually resulting in a room full of sympathisers to the yob in the box! I still think a proper professional body of jurors would serve the legal system well, for both sides of the courtroom.
