I heard on the radio, he asked for a lower bonus than what he was due. If this is the reduced amount what was the bank going to give him?

I think the figure was two thirds of what he was going to get so that would be £10,000,000. Nice work if you can get it.

I think you have missed a '2' out at the start of his annual salary figure.

I heard on the radio today that his annual salary is £2,250,000 and his total package including bonus is £9m give or take.

I'd be happy with just the give or take bit!!!

So his bonus is 288.89% of his basic salary; nearly three times as much.

That's like you and me getting a good job with the taxi meter showing £22.50 at the end of the hiring and the punter paying you £90.00 instead!!

It just don't happen does it!!

He has also sold some of his shares that he got as a bonus for something over £13,000,000.

The sum was awarded for his performance as head of Barclays' investment banking and wealth management operations, the bank said in its remuneration report.

That figure is on top of his £250,000 annual salary.

Barclays didn't take any Government money did they?? After all it was their investment department that has held the banks head above water.

You make a good point Nigel, but what I would add to that is all the banks would have gone t*ts up, maybe not HSBC, if it wasn't for the government guaranteeing people's deposits.
