Man held over probe into taxi driver attacks on lone women in Swansea
POLICE investigating a number of allegations involving a taxi driver who had acted inappropriately towards lone females while they were passengers in a cab have made an arrest.
Officers say a 20-year-man was arrested in the Ravenhill area of Swansea, and that he has been released on police bail pending further enquires.
Meanwhile police are calling on anyone — especially women — who may have been subjected to "inappropriate behaviour" while in a cab to come forward and report the incident.
Detective Sergeant Jonathan Bainbridge from the CID unit at Swansea Central police station said: "Although we have made an arrest our investigations are continuing and we are appealing to anyone and in particular lone females who may have been subjected to any inappropriate behaviour or with relevant information to come forward."
Police are also renewing their appeal for everyone to make sure they only use reputable, licensed cabs, and are advising that — where possible — women should not take lone taxi rides, and should "avoid being unduly under the influence of alcohol" when they get into a taxi.
