Libya is a mainly moslem country............... Whilst serving on a Royal Naval frigate in the 60's, as a chef, (a very young one) we were visiting Malta, and were due to sail to Izmir, in Turkey where we were to take senior Turkish officers to sea for a demonstration of the Wasp helicopter we carried, trying to flog them to the turkish navy. The supply officer had been ashore on a shopping run for the lunch at sea, and came triumphantly into the galley with a suckling pig, for the table centerpiece. "what do you think to that?" he asked. "You do know Turkey is a Moslem country" I said. "Is it?" he replied, "So what?" |
