Post subject:  Need Sickness Benefit Help

Hi i was recently admitted to hospital and got out after a week but wont be able to work for another week or 2 and was wondering if anyone, was able to help with any info on any benefits that i might be entitled to, i am a self employed private hire owner.

I have asked around and no-one seems to know so if anyone on here can point me in the right direction it would be very helpful.

Thanks in advance for any help

If your NI contributions are up to date you will get a grand total of "NOTHING" for the 2 weeks you are off. If your lucky you'll get £100 for the 2 weeks.

You might be entitled to a crisis loan, but only if you are intending to join the ranks of the full time unemployed, other than that don't hold your breath.

Good luck mate . . . :-|

theres NO SSP for the S/E

if you were a PAYE (NMW) employee of your own Ltd company theres 28 weeks at £70 on the table....

Statutory Sick Pay
Most employees get Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) from their employers when they are unable to work as a result of illness. SSP can be paid for a maximum of 28 weeks. Spells of incapacity separated by 8 weeks or less count as one.

For the first seven days of incapacity a patient completes a self-certificate:

Quote:
SC2 – used if they are in employment and the employer does not have their own self-certification forms. The employee gives the form to their employer.
SC1 – used if the individual is self-employed or unemployed. The employee gives the form to Jobcentre Plus.
The self-employed or the unemployed can claim Employment and Support Allowance straight away.
