Thugs attack cabbie before stealing taxi

THUGS attacked a cabbie and stole his car after turning on him while he took them home from a night out. The man's black Mercedes Vito taxi was stolen shortly after 1.15am on Saturday (April 9) by two men who he had picked up outside Kokos nightclub.

It started when he picked up a woman on The Parade outside the junction with Bedford Street. She asked the taxi driver to take her to the River Cross restaurant on Emscote Road. Once there, she asked him to wait for her boyfriend to arrive. Two minutes later, two men came across to the taxi from outside Kokos and got in.

The driver then turned around and drove dow Warwick Street, stopping at traffic lights at the junction with Dale Street. The men started asking him whether he had been in a fight in his taxi or given somebody a free ride before one of them climbed into the front passenger seat. He then spat at the driver but missed, before grabbing his neck and pulling his head down.

The driver then stopped on Warwick Place near Bertie Terrace and was pulled from his taxi by the pair who then started punching and kicking him. The woman travelling in the taxi tried to stop them, but the attack continued until another taxi driver and a group of girls came over to help.
His attackers then drove off in his taxi, which was later recovered in Rock Mill Lane, near to Jewsons and the Vauxhall garage.

Vito Taxis have partitions, very good one's at that, why buy one without if your going to that expense of a Merc ?
