I have got it in PDF.

Alex can I post it up on here?

I very much doubt Alex would object.

But didn't the IoL send it to the Transport Committee? :?

I have noticed over this bad weather spell private hire taxi's raising the tariff to DOUBLE and have every right to as they are not bound by any maximum fares.

None of the private hire companies on the Wirral authorised the charging of double over the bad weather spells

Quote:
With the de-regulation of hackney carriages in Wirral more are flooding the roads and being able to be both hacks and be on a private hire system. This results in the likes of public holidays etc NO hacks are available for hail and ride unless you see one between the higher paying private hire jobs. This was ditto for the poor weather spell, why would they work at council prescribed tariffs when to turn the light of and go private they could earn double.

 I'm hoping this was answered by a member of the trade slightly ignorant of the law and not by a member of the public who is obviously being ripped off left, right and centre

A load of old Tosh....they are just showing off the statistics they want you to see and hiding the Statistics they don't want you to see.

I reckon the IOL are only playing to the gallery in order to justify their own being, its self perpetuating...the more they say change is needed the bigger they grow.

Who funds the IOL?

Is this Just and England and Wales thing..if yes..good!!

If the Gov were already looking at doing similar to what the IoL want then the Gov will use this, if not then they will ignore it.

It adds nothing to the debate.

This report was out a few months ago.

I have had it on my computer since 1st February 2011 and the report was presented to Birmingham City Council Licensing Committee on 16th February 2011 for their information and comments.

Has anything in the report changed since or has it been updated, because the date on the report remains December 2010?

I see it doesn't actually state how many people responded.... always use percentages to hide the true..

I believe it does say somewhere, either in the report or on the IoL website.

From memory, the number of responses was in the 900s.

'In total, 925 responses were received.'

Bottom line of page 11 of the report.

So, after 30 months or 3 years, whichever figure you wish to believe in the report or on the IoL website, all they could muster is 925 respondents, including the cab and mini-cab trade, licensing officials, solicitors, other politicians and various interested parties, or as they like to call them, stakeholders. (Sounds like a bunch of people ready to exterminate Dracula!!)

IMO, that's not a very representative number of all that are involved or interested in the two trades!!!

That's as maybe but it's certainly typical of the trade and interested parties
