A taxi driver in Plymouth has been suspended for three days after failing to report a speeding offence to the city council. Robert Cox was convicted on August 21, 2002, of speeding and was fined £60 and given three points on his licence. The Plymouth City Council Licensing Committee was also told that Mr Cox has a further six points on his licence for traffic offences discharged through fixed penalties.

So he is not a fit and proper person to drive today, but will be in three days time. Do they have a magic formula down there?

Still would have he got his license with 9 points? :-k

i'll have to have a read of my conditions of licence, but i get the idea that your ment to tell the coucil if you get any points on your licence.

A Plymouth taxi driver who failed to report to the city council that he had been caught speeding has been given a formal warning. Roy Willis was convicted on July 4, 2003 of speeding, fined £60 and had three points on his licence. Plymouth City Council's Licensing Committee issued him with an official warning which will stay on his record and will be considered should he speed again.

hmmmm. A 'friend' of mine got caught speeding a couple of months ago and got 3 points + £60. He didn't know that he had to inform the council of this. Should he now write to the council to tell them about it? Should he leave it to chance? He has tried looking for all the paperwork he was given by the council when he started but can't seem to find it. If he does write to the council, should he just say he didn't realise he needed to notify them, and explain that the article has prompted his lettter?

He should immediately inform the council, if indeed that is what they require. He should explain his reasons for the delay and hope the licensing department find those reasons plausible and reasonable.

you should allways notify the council of any offence straightaway it saves you a lot of hassle from them in the future when they find out as sussex said fit and proper person also make sure you notify them of any change of address and if your vehicle has been involved in an accident if nothing else it keeps the LO busy

ahh, so thats why, got to create the work to make them look busy in the office. just so they dont get the spare time to go on the streets and look for touts.

they only come out after office hours so they can get the overtime so thets keep em busy the rest of the time besides it is a lot easier to do the job properly and then it doesnt matter if they come out or stay in their little comfy offices dreaming up new rules and regs we can all get hot and bothered about and make it harder to earn a crust
