Three cabbies fined for not having valid taxi licences
Three taxi drivers were fined by a court – because they had no licence or insurance. The drivers were convicted by magistrates in Preston over the past year.
The sentences were revealed in a report to Preston Council’s taxi committee, which is due to meet later this week. Ilyas Patel, of Holmrook Road, Preston, was convicted of plying for hire in a carriage without a hackney carriage licence in June 2010.
He also had no insurance for his car. He was fined a total of £250 for the offence and told to pay costs of £175 to Preston Council.
Javeed Iqbal Goga, of Basil Street, Preston, was convicted of the same offences and fined a combined £300 last July. He was also told to pay £75 costs to the council.
And Jitu Miah, of Thursby Road, Burnley, was also convicted of the same offences and was fined £430 and ordered to pay £200 costs to the council in April this year.
