was at the councill paying my plate today in front of me was a man paying his badge when the women behind the desk told him u need a utr number he turned and said it was his brothers badge he was paying seems a bit strange the women still accepted this .i thought no utr means beat it no utr no badge simple as . |

I've payed tax as a self-employed taxi driver for well over a decade, and also worked professionaly in taxation for a while, and I didn't know what it meant. Tax reference number, yes, UTR, no. Not offhand anyway. Clearly it's a big issue in Dundee though, but perhaps it's not the same everywhere.

Edinburghs had the TRN for a while now,tho you don't have to fill it in as only your employer can ask for it as far as i'm aware. It's something to do with data protection if I remember right. |
