your askin the wrong person ask a Glasgow monkey. the organ grinder don't care as long as he gets radio dues and car rentals. always find it funny that they make it look they are advertising a job when in fact the opposite is true

I think one way of testing to see if an operator (English version) really does consider the health/wealth of the drivers on his circuit is to do this simple test. During this recession trade has gone down 10/20/30% in most areas. So has the operator who is giving his drivers 10/20/30% less work reduced the number of cars on his circuit by 10/20/30%? If he hasn't, then despite any words of support, he doesn't give a f***.

or reduced the radio dues accordingly compared with the amount of jobs each car gets. in fact i think its quite reasonable that all circuits should charge per job rather than a flat rate. i don't think their is anything wrong with running a business like this. i just object to the way its advertised as though it were an offer of employment with a wage attached, its not its an offer to rent a vehicle. kinda like a van hire company putting up a job in the job centre when you get there you sign a lease hand over cash and get told to go find your own work

in fact i think its quite reasonable that all circuits should charge per job rather than a flat rate. I quite liked that idea until I realised the company would get the same dues regardless of what each individual car does. 1000 jobs split between 10 cars means as much to the company as 1000 jobs between 100 cars - at say £1 per job the company still gets £1000 but each car would pay a different amount ! |

You're right it doesn't make sense, sorry Anyway in reply to what you said, drivers do choices although they are limited and you're quite right about the operators which I think was the point I was going to make when I typed waffle

I think you have missed the point. If the circuit has 10 cars paying £100 radio dues then the company gets £1000. If the company has 100 cars paying £100 then the company gets £10000. The number of jobs will still be the same but the radio rental will be somewhat more. |

just proportional priced to the number of jobs you get off the system. thats fair to the driver and fair to the radio company, although clearly not as viable a business model for them. if you don't get a lot of work then at least your not paying through the nose for it

The drivers that use my cars get paid £7.50 per hour whilst doing school runs and if they want to use the car to work at any other time they pay the company 33 pence a mile and they keep the fares. The rate is the same for work given to them by the office. All vehicle expenses are covered by the company. |
