A CALL was made today to provide more space on taxi ranks in Aberdeen – to help the city go green.

A union boss warned that failing to lengthen pick-up ranks would add to pollution.

Tommy Campbell, regional representative for Unite, said: “We are concerned that taxis are being moved off the back of ranks. The alternative is that they will be driving around the block burning up fuel and conflicting with the council's environmentally-friendly policy.”
