"A double decker bus is recovered from underneath a railway bridge in Darlington, where it crashed on Thursday. The incident happened on Neasham Road, Darlington, County Durham, near the town's football ground just before 8.45am. Up to 12 people including the driver were taken to Darlington Memorial Hospital but none were thought to be seriously injured."

How many times does this happen surely one of the first things you are taught when driving a double decker is HOW HIGH YOUR VEHICLE IS !!!!!

Since it was a school bus it should have had a prescribed route anyway so what was the driver doing on that road ?

Maybe he was on the prescribed route. Maybe he usually has a single decker and for some reason someone allocated him a double decker on this particular day. Who knows?

I agree with you about him knowing the height of the vehicle, I was just offering an explanation as to why he was on that particular route.
