Taxi driver pee-ved

6th October 2011

When is it convenient for a town centre taxi driver to visit the loo? In one word - never.

If any taxi driver dares to visit the loo in North Street, they will run the risk of getting a parking ticket, even if they park in the allocated area marked for taxis outside the shop New Look. It is impossible to park opposite in the ten minute area as it is always taken.

Rugby Borough Council in their wisdom has decided a taxi is not a taxi if left unattended and will run the risk of receiving a parking ticket, even if the driver has left a notice explaining their predicament.

They will also gain points on their licence which will then go against them when the time comes to renew the licence.

The council's instruction for the alternative is to make a dash to the nearest supermarket depending on the call of nature. My question is, will the leading supermarkets allow their stores to become a public convenience if you don't intend on making a purchase? If the driver doesn't have time to make a purchase it could well lead to a sticky situation.

I would have thought it is a human right to visit the loo if and when the need arises. I wonder if the employees at the town hall have the same restrictions enforced on them regarding usage of the toilet.

Hackney carriages must not be left unattended on a rank that is the law I wish they would enforce it round here but no they want to have a go at over ranking but not do anything about Silver cabs who use the rank as their parking for their office around the corner

Surely the person giving the ticket should show a bit of common sense when a driver needs a leak.

That doesn't exist anymore, you have a robotised population now, they all work for the man, and the man says no excuses and you can't reason with them, the attitude is is it's ok for me, not for you, I see BIG problems ahead once people wake up and realise how controlled they really are and by a body that screams louder than anything when the boot is on the other foot.
