Is it really as bad as some say on here. I have been doing this for nearly 8 years and I was going through my old book on sat. I compared the last 6 months to the forst two years and my figures are up!! I am with Central (thought best getting that out now) and this festival was the best one I have ever had money wise. In fact I would say that the last three months have been really good and most folk I speak to say the same. Do you think its due to the fact that drivers are dropping out? Or do you think its picked up? Or is it due to City and Central hoovering up all the contract work in the last few years leaving bothe ComCabs and the street cars less work? I am not on the wind up before the abuse starts and would like some opinions from all sections

Edinburgh and London may be the exception to that figure? I work in Edinburgh, do 4 dayshifts and sat night and my figures don't lie! I know what I make but the wife does not!! I saw a drop off about £30 per shift last year but its been back up since about March this year. I work the airport a lot and start very early to catch the airport shuttle runs and so I can finish about two. |

How many guys from either of the two big companies on here post tho? it seems to only be street cars and I know they have it tough but the radio is really working! |

All that means is you are working more effectively to compensate for the 15% -20% drop in earnings. You've actually answered your own question.

Funguy, I agree with you. (To an extent). The last 3 months have been good. Better than 8 yrs ago ?, all things considered, nah. Having said that, the, “Economy” as it is,affect us all, including, Skull. However, Skull is aware that the Taxi Trade has been doing well over the last few Months, and he hates it !. He hates the fact that he is no longer involved, ( Tho’ he pretends he isn’t). He goes so far as to say, “ Ask anyone, a’ wis’ gonnae’ leave anyway”. Not a single person has came on this Forum and indicated that. Not ONE !. He now tells us, “ He’s doin’ ok. He’s working on something ?. He’s not claiming “Dole” . I "Challenge" you Skull. Tell us what you're doing. ( A' dinnae' believe you mate. A' think you're just an "Unhappy Liar". But there ye' go, prove me wrong !). Heres what to do Funguy, forget 8 years. Figure out what you’ve earned over the last 6 months, then think about Skull, and then, count yer’ blessings mate !. Ps. I'm a "Street Cab". |

Just remember Skull, there are, “Restrictions”, in every, “Job”. Wether that means, you, “End up”, workin’ as a, “Lavvy Attendant”, or whatever, there are, “Restrictions”. Now, if you were lucky enough to get a, “Lavvy Attendants job”, (No pun intended). You might, indeed, feel less restricted. You might, for example : put your tounge to good use for a change, ( saving the toilet brush), but there would still be restrictions. You must have looked daft enough chasing a poor guy in his, “Range Rover”. Imagine the scene if it was someone wae’ his “Troosers”, at his ankles !. |

I tried the street for three months but I did not like it. I know its about a extra £107 per week but I find its worth it due to the hours I need to work! I like starting early to finish early and my driver gets a early start so everyone is a winner!! I don't know about more intelligent as I dont really speak much to streeet cars as I am home early but there are some tramps on that Haymarket rank. That boy with the white hair who wear jeans and white shoes is the worst of a bad bunch!! We need the cab office out to enforce the dress code as we are starting to look like PHC! Ali T I like the fact you talk the talk as well as walk and applied for plates and I bet the other two wish that they had your brains and balls!!! They really missed the boat

I told Big Charlie, Eric and a few others, I was not going to renew my licence in August. If that's what I had to do to force myself to leave the trade. The minor spat with Garry Reid was a God Send, although I wasn't planning to leave quite so soon. As I said before, I'm working on something that starts in the new year. It doesn't get any more complicated than that. Now, if you have any doubt how sh*t working a taxi is, just try and working forty hours a week to earn your living. You'd be better off working in MacDonald's. To be honest Fairplay, I could no longer take working with ar*eholes and picking them up as well. I'd just had enough. I mean come on, I, shouldn't be working with guys like you, no way.

Well good luck in what ever you do next! I will give this job up if I stop enjoying it or start earning much less but for now I am happy doing the job! It really is not that bad for me but I make most of my money before 10am as after that it slows right down til about 3pm and then its only busy til about 10ish. I would ask but I cant get near the place with all these bloody roadworks!! |

SHHHHHHHHHUSH Don't talk up the trade, the 3 amigo's will run to PHC and tell them, then the PHC will realise all there gains are deserting and coming back to us, we have all heard the horror stories of phc drivers not giving the discount FunGuy i'm sure you are fun but a bit niave maybe
