Bit stiff the conditions. But as im perfect then I should cop the lot. Driving Standards Agency ( DSA ) Hackney Carriage & Private Hire Assessment Test. 1. Purpose of the report 1.1 To seek Members approval in relation to new arrangements for hackney carriage and private hire driving test requirements. 2. Recommendations 2.1 That the Licensing Committee amends the current requirements for Brighton & Hove Hackney hackney carriage and private hire licensed drivers to include the following: (a) That with effect from 1st August 2005 as part of the new drivers requirements for a Brighton & Hove Hackney Carriage or Private Hire drivers licence a pass certificate for the hackney carriage / private hire assessment test from the D S A must be produced by the applicant before any new licence may be issued. (b) That any existing Brighton & Hove licensed Hackney Carriage or Private Hire driver who, after 1 August 2005 accrues more than four penalty points on his or her UK drivers license within a rolling two year period be required to undertake and obtain a pass certificate for the hackney carriage / private hire assessment test from the D S A within a period of one year from the date of last conviction or fixed penalty endorsement. That the director of Environmental Services be given delegated powers to require any Brighton & Hove licensed hackney carriage or private hire driver to undertake and pass the DSA Taxi hackney carriage / private hire assessment test within a period of one year from being requested to do so. Four points !!!!! I will be the only driver in the village.

It looks like the Brighton trade have united on this issue.
http://www.theargus.co.uk/the_argus/arc ... S80ZM.html Maybe the local T&G have started to concentrate on quality, not quantity.

At least they've got the support of the Independent Pink Party
But I thougth the plate holders would be wailing that this would make the shortage of drivers even worse, but perhaps they weren't asked for the article.

![]() i think at the moemnt they are more concernbed about the number of ph being driven by non english people.
And the paper asked the right people.
Still i think it will be good for standards. But that isnt what the magority of owners/firms want it for.

Yes, four points seems a bit severe, maybe six. Excuse my ignorance, but it's three for a minor speeding offence, innit? |

Excuse my ignorance, but it's three for a minor speeding offence, innit? Yes it's three, so I suppose they are saying two speeders and off to the tester you go. But at least the drivers have a year to do it. I'm not sure how many points you get for illegally plying, perhaps someone might know on another forum.
