UK Taxi operators, beware Dick Turpin disguised as Insurance Operatives, in this case Aviva brokered through Motor & Home / Taxi Direct / Brightside Group. Have quoted renewal my Public Hire Manchester Licensed cab TPFT with 2 clean named drivers & 11 years NCB, coming out at some £3724 equating to a scandalous increase of 291.39% on last years further claim free figure. Any Manchester cabbies got examples of their quotes? These Highway Robbers need highlighting. Opinion says Government need re-think , on as we see Insurance Companies monopolising areas of UK, then going on to say high premiums are due to high claims!! What happened in my case???? As with the banking scandal, the Chief Executives of these private Insurance companies never take any pay cut from their extortionate, high claims salaries!!

Ring Cabshield in Glasgow mate, we've all been getting increased on lately, my £950 went to £1150 this year, and a mate got quoted £1950 from £1000 this year, eventually the climb down went to £1200 with the same firm "Westminster/Tradex".

Cab operators, looking for feedback on going rates charged for insurance cover in your areas, maybe can then get an idea of overall picture of what these modern day Legalised Robbers are caning us for???? Feedback please? :?:

New quotes have been ranging from 20-35% more in most regions.

And it's all down to the ambulance chasers and those firms that charge £150+ a day for a replacement vehicle.

Sussex is right. All Motor Insurance has risen, by about that, in the last year or two.

I don't know how you can call them Highway Robbers, after all, you can always take your Business elsewhere.Few real Robbers offer you that choice!

What is happening in Manchester, is that many insurers are no-quoting the area, leaving it to the likes of Tradex / Westminster, who then quote what they want.
We are all only too aware its gone up but 291% in my case, we need league tables for comparisons. God forbid having a claim against these leaches, your premium would rocket to telephone numbers.

The fact that most insurers are blanking an area usually means there is a bloody good reason why.

Maybe your area has got more crooks driving cabs who try it on when they have a claim.

Please don't think I'm having a pop at you, it's just I don't think the rest of us should be subsidising your area through higher premiums.

I get your drift Sussex, but re-iterate due caution in Insurance companies effectively monopolizing areas

Manchester has probably one of the highest amount of ''claims''. I know of at least two drivers who have claimed money for a rental ''cab'' whilst their own vehicle is being fixed.
These ''rental'' companies charge £150 PER DAY to provide these vehicles.
One case I know of the damage is nothing much and can be fixed in one week (maximum) but the cab driver has had a rental vehicle for at least 3 months...and still on going... more than £13,000 now and rising daily plus Solicitors charges ...

Who do you think pays for this ?...short answer is we do ...
Insurance companies are not charities...they run a business and the aim is to make a profit at the end of the year.

My own premium has gone from £1400 to £2600 in the last two years without any claims and with 9 years no claims one

driver only.

In Manchester a large number of cabs carry an advert in the back windscreen for a ''Claims co''...ring them if you have a

claim !

Thats your answer mate.
