Donald Mcleod has been quoted as saying a change in legislation is on its way so that the previous scenario will never happen again

I wonder what the changes will be :?:

Source was one of the new licence holders :D

A new Method of plate distribution when a demand is established is what he is looking at, it would be almost impossible for them to use the ipl due to the recent judgement meaning everyone will have a fair chance of obtaining a free plate, good news for the whole trade when the next demand is established on method he is looking at is by the way of a draw

Oh, that?

Well it was patently obvious that a new system would be required to disbritute any new plate issue after the court case, and I think everyone had just accepted that except Dougie.

So basically he's announcing what everyone else had assumed already - old news.

If he'd said that the new system was about to be announced or whatever then that would just about have consituted something worth posting.

Or even asking for views on how a new system might operate.

But not announcing what everyone knew already.

Thanks for pointing out that this thread has been another waste of bandwidth, sunset.

So what's the best way to issue any new plates then? :D

Assuming, of course, that it's a limited issue within an otherwise restricted market.

Just issue to all that want them, allow any vehicle within reason like min engine size 1.6, 4 doors and a boot, as long as its under 3 years of age at first licence
then let the trade find its own level

Measured growth, what a fine idea, although I doubt our baggers will agree.

Would you agree to measured growth if it meant licence plates not changing hands for money through the incorporation of a licence, and being returned to the council upon leaving the trade?

I believe I would Gaz, to me it's not about profit on a plate, I just want to work without having some tit dictating to me, if that tit was a fair man it would be ok, but we all know man enslaves man and nothing is changing, if I'm honest if I could go basck 25 years I'd tool up and prey on the likes of Murdoch etc, clean the banks out ina Point Break sort of way, I know God would be displeased, but he has a Ferarri, and I want one as well

You might get your chance yet, if things start falling apart at the seams. One thing's for sure, driving a taxi is the last thing you'll be wanting to do.

Skull, remember yer’ beloved, “Jimmy Reid” ?. The Commie that tried to join the Labour Party and the SNP, and then ended up working for Murdoch’s “Sun Newspaper”. You are forever bringing oot’ the, “ A rat race is for rats”, speech. In that speech Reid mentions, (I paraphrase), the, “ Bang the bell Jack, I’m on the Bus". Is that not what you’re doing now ?.
You’ve sold two Plates, so [edited by admin] these idiots who have put themselves into a lot of debt by acquiring a Plate by the only means available. You’re a hypocrite !.
