Ban for taxi driver who ‘took a chance’ A taxi driver who drove home from his daughter’s wedding while more than twice the legal alcohol limit has been banned from the road for 18 months. John Simpson, 59, admitted “taking a chance” after his accommodation plans in Kelso fell through and driving home during the early hours of August 13. He was stopped by police on the A698 Kelso to Hawick road because of the manner of his driving. The court was also told he was the sole occupant of the car. Defence lawyer Joe Boyd told Jedburgh Sheriff Court that Simpson, of Stonefield Place, immediately relinquished his taxi driver’s licence after being charged with the offence and sold his car. Sheriff Donald Corke told Simpson he had “taken a chance which did not pay off”. He pointed out he could have caused harm to others and himself. In addition to the ban, Simpson was fined £200. http://www.hawick-news.co.uk/news/local ... _1_1985114 |

Not thinking straight, I doubt he intended to drive but beer can talk a man around, it's not right and he's done wrong but I doubt he intended it to be like that earlier in the day. |
