I did the knowlege a few years ago, got my license but haven't actually started driving. The reason for this was that i got my old job back having been made redundant. I have kept my license going as a back up should i ever need it. Looks like i might need it soon as i could be made redundant over the next few weeks. I was a wee bit concerned when i read that earnings could be as low as £300 per week. ??? Is this correct. I had always thought that providing you put the effort in there was money to be made. I know things have been harsh on everyone of late but is it really that bad ?? |

More drivers + fewer customers = Lower earnings Anyway, this particular topic was done to death a few weeks ago and what particular figures portray the exact picture isn't entirely clear, but I suspect that anyone saying things are as good as they were need their bumps felt. viewtopic.php?f=12&t=17772 |

The word on the grape vine is you will be able to get your own plate if you apply for one. If your prepared to put the effort in there is a living to be made, I have been up there for my bookings on different nights of the week and folk have tried to flag me down, get yourself near the playhouse from around 11PM there is always a massive queue there, then Lothian road at near kicking out time or Waverly bridge |

Hopefully there's enough of a living to pay the mortgage and feed the wife and kids. |

Driving dayshift in Edinburgh for one of the big two, i have seen myself going out at 4:30 am and not getting a radio job for 1-2 hours on a bad day and that's sitting about in the zones where work usually comes out. And a on a bad day, I can end up on a negative once my rental and fuel are paid some days. I honestly wish I'd never got into it and will be getting out within the next year or so. |

Like we didn't know, it's official. The UK ECONOMY is on its ar*e and getting worse. Herdy73, I only hope you need very little to survive. Driving a taxi puts you in the front line when everything is turning to shi*.
