Halstead: Cabbies see red over new colour plan

Cabbies are seeing red over proposals that could force them to have the same colour cars.

Braintree Council currently has no colour policy when it comes to taxis, but believes forcing Hackney Carriages to adopt one colour will “breed consumer confidence” and increase business.

The proposal is for all Hackney Carriage vehicles to be the same colour by April 1, 2022.

But Steven Byrne who owns A2B Taxis in Stanstead Road, Halstead, said the idea was “really daft”.
