Taxi driver hurt as angry passenger throws meter A female taxi driver was hurt when an angry passenger broke the car's meter and threw it at her. It happened shortly after the male passenger had got into the taxi in the early hours of Sunday morning, on Rowland Road, Scunthorpe. The man became aggressive after the driver asked for the fare up front because he appeared to have been drinking. The driver needed hospital treatment following the assault. Police are appealing for information about the incident, which happened at about 3.30am near the roundabout which joins Howdens Hill and Ashby Road. Witnesses are asked to call Humberside Police on 101, quoting log number 135 of 18/12/11.
