I very much doubt the legality of this, but I suspect those behind the big PH firms in Glasgow will not let it take off.

Its still live in London. They turn up on little fold away mopeds, and then take you and your car home, returning on their bikes. Not cheap I believe. |

Something similar was offered a few years ago,in your neck of the woods, think it was for the festive period, that the taxi company would send out a taxi with a spare driver, and for a fee would drive the private car back to the owners home. This was supposed to stop drink driving, but it did not last. |

But surely they must be (the drivers) licensed for hire and reward.
Saying that, many moons ago, we had to take a customer who was well over the limit home along with his car. Thus I had the mush, and my mate drove his car, and then let me bring him back. Both got the same fare, but only one silly sod used his diesel.

CIVIC GOVERNMENT (SCOTLAND) ACT 1982 CHAPTER 45 PART II LICENSING AND REGULATION--PARTICULAR ACTIVITIES LICENSING AND REGULATION OF TAXIS AND PRIVATE HIRE CARS s 13 Taxi and private hire car driving licences. (1) A licence, to be known as a "taxi driver's licence" or, as the case may be, a "private hire car driver's licence", shall, subject to subsection (2) below, be required for driving or otherwise having charge of a taxi or private hire car. I would appear that a licence is only required when driving a taxi or private hire car, but I am not a Q.C. All the best |

So not just solicitors, but QCs to boot
I think the reason that RD said that was because he is probably aware that anyone showing any legal nous at all on taxi forums will immediately be accused of being a solicitor.
