John Mason who has just taken over at TFL has said that the turning circle should be scraped from the COF
He said that this would allow owners a much wider choice of cab
Alegidly Geely are to stop production of the TX and start producing the cab many have seen in various taxi medias

Having had a quick peep (god forbid if they knew a PH had registered on there  ), it appears there is no new news.

Just a load of old grumps either in favour or against the turning circle requirement.

Thank you for your email.

Like most articles bought to my attention that are posted on the various taxi forums and blogs this isn’t factually correct.

As I am sure you will be aware there are many differing opinions within the taxi trade and driver groups as to whether different types of taxis should be licensed as traditional London black cabs and if long standing requirements such as the “turning circle” should be removed to allow a wider range of vehicles to be used as licensed taxis in London.

I am aware that there are many drivers such as yourself who feel that taxi drivers should have more freedom of choice of the vehicle they use as a taxi and this is something that I would expect whoever is the Mayor in May to discuss with us in more detail.

Kind regards

I can't believe he would cast such doubt on the truthfulness of taxi forums and blogs.

Skip, this is a back handed one I'm afraid.
