A couple of things....

Do I need a DSA test (I was told I didnt)

And do I need a CRB check and NVQ pass cert, do I pay for this....if I do, why would I not have told about it phoning about a job, I'd also need to hire a car ect

I've never did taxi'ing before, and being honest, the only thing putting me off is picking up drunks at night/morning.....then again if I'm saying this allready maybe it's not me..

Each council has its own rules, so it's impossible to tell without stating where you are.

But presumably if you're about to start then you'll have a private hire driver's badge/licence from the relevant council, so will have jumped through all the necessary hoops.

So presumably you've either got a driver's badge or the office you're to be working for has told you how to go about getting one?

There's stuff about getting a PH badge on Glasgow City Council's website - guidance, application forms etc, looks like most of what you need is here:

http://www.glasgow.gov.uk/en/business/l ... ensing.htm

If you've got someone to work for then they should know about all this or help you with the ins and outs if you need any help about specific aspects.

There are one or two Glasgow members on this site but I don't think they're regulars.

But the bottom line is that you must have a driver's badge from the council even if you want to drive someone else's car. If you want to drive your own car then you'll need to licence a PH vehicle as well.

He'll need it, there thousands of 'em in Glasgow and they've got that much work that they're sittin' about scratchin' their @rses or seagullin' at 12 o'clock on friday/saturday nights. The place is saturated with each PH circuit cutting the others' throats. Only ones makin' money from PH is the Barons. I'd get a shift on one first and try it if you're thinking of putting you own car on the road.

I know....I'm having serious second thoughts, I'd need to hire a car, but I'd be £265 (car and radio) a week before I made anything for myself, and yes I see them sitting/standing with bugger all to do
