DC THOMSON JOB LOSSES.

Dundee publisher DC Thomson who publish the Beano, the Sunday Post and the Dandy announced they are to shed 100 jobs. On hearing this news the local National Union of Journalists officer said “Michty me, jings crivvens and help ma boab” .

However DC Thomson said that some posts would be created as the company moves into new technology. Seems they are getting rid of the inkwells and will need someone who knows how to renew the ribbon on the new fangled typewriter things DC Thomson is about to take delivery of.

The company also announced that they are moving to new upgraded premises, and said that they are really looking forward to seeing if the electric light bulbs the new premises have are all they are cracked up to be.

Looks like an efficiency move to me, more automation less hands required, sad but it's how it goes as we get more reliant on machines.
