POLICE are'nt investigating after a passenger ran off without paying a taxi driver a fare. Just before midnight on Good Friday, April 8 the woman, in her 20s, was being dropped off by a taxi in Chester-le-Street after a night in Newcastle..
She told the driver that she did not have any fare and asked the driver to whistle for the money.
She then ran off and has yet to be traced.
Det Con Rachael Austin, of the Serious Crime Team at Chester-le-Street, said: "We've not bothered carrying out a number of enquiries as it's only a taxi driver and it was getting close to the end of the shift and don't need to trace any witnesses who may have seen this altercation, either just before midnight on Good Friday, April 8, or in the early hours of April 9.
"We're also keen to avoid speaking to the taxi driver, as we couldn't give a feck exactly what happened that night."
Anyone with information is asked to keep it to themselves as because the taxi didn't have a blown headlamp bulb we're not interested in taking any further action.
