Taxi driver stole my £1,500 bracelet claims Birkdale woman A SOUTHPORT woman is desperately searching for an expensive bracelet she claims was taken by an unscrupulous taxi driver. Michelle Wilson, 39, of Bedford Road, Birkdale, was enjoying a night out in Southport on Friday May 25, when she decided to catch a taxi home on her own. Mrs Wilson said: “I left Bar Humbug on Scarisbrick Road at about 1.30am, but when I got home in the taxi I realised I had left my handbag with my friend and so had no money to pay the driver.” Mrs Wilson handed the driver her expensive Pandora bracelet as a deposit after he was reluctant to let her out of the taxi to get the fare from her house. Mrs Wilson’s husband then paid the driver but he drove off without returning the distinctive bracelet which is worth an estimated £1,500. “I couldn’t believe it when my husband came back in the house without the bracelet,” said Mrs Wilson. The exclusive Pandora brand of bracelets allow collectors to thread different charms and beads to the bracelet. “I have 15 charms attached to the bracelet and many of them have real sentimental value to me,” said Mrs Wilson. “A lot of the charms were ones my family had bought for me including one from my nana who's been recovering from cancer. “I have contacted all the local taxi firms, the council and the police but no one seems to be claiming responsibility or coming forward with a name of the driver who took my bracelet. “I would like all the taxi drivers to get the word around because I know for a fact that someone out there has it.” If you have any information about Mrs Wilson’s lost bracelet, she can be contacted on 07872 997731. http://www.southportvisiter.co.uk/south ... -31079004/ |

I find it difficult to understand why it has such a high value with the average cost of a charm being around £40/£50, obviously you can get more expensive charms but 14 of them, I think not. |

It would depend on the metal. If the bracelet was gold it could be very expensive. if the charms are gold they would be very expensive. 24 carat gold is around £1,000 per troy ounce so even 9 carat gold is £375 per troy ounce. That is the bullion price so the retail price could easily be around twice that figure. |

When it comes to retail it's the designer name that sells not the quantity of gold/silver that is in it, you only have to look at Tiffany to see that. That is of course if it is a genuine Pandora, I find it hard to believe that an avid collector of Pandora would make such a mistake as to it's value |

You wouldn't need to buy a knock off one you can probably buy them cheap enough 2nd hand anyway, but, you could be right. It would serve her right if it was knock off and was sold to her for £700 thinking it was worth £1,500 |
