Gary Barlow: Taxi drivers hate my concert Sun 03 June 2012Gary Barlow has to hide his face to dodge abuse in London taxis — because his huge Diamond Jubilee concert is driving cabbies mad.
The Take That star revealed he asked one driver if he could take a different route as they got stuck in a jam near Buckingham Palace.
The cabbie told him: “Nah, some t*** decided to build a stage here.”
Red-faced Gary replied: “Yeah, I can’t believe it” — and then kept his head down for the rest of the journey.
The X Factor judge has been working flat out for two years organising tomorrow’s star-studded concert and penning tribute anthem Sing which he will perform for the Queen at Buckingham Palace.
He also spent six weeks travelling the globe to find inspiration for the event and a documentary, Gary Barlow: On Her Majesty’s Service, charting his journey will be screened at 7.30pm on BBC1 tonight.
One concert surprise will be the use of the balcony where Prince William and bride Kate shared their famous wedding day kiss.
