Bloody olympics..that damned torch relay is clogging up towns and villages the length and breadth of britain. even out here in the sticks theres No parking allowed anywhere in the villages, bugger knows where the locals will put their cars, nor the visitors who might be daft enough to want to see the torch, where do they park? In one local village the police even asked the local shop keeper if he'd mind closing the shop for a few hours to make security easier...crazy.

Its so commercialised its nauseating, its not like a single torch being relayed over every inch of the route, it's 8000 torches being carried only a few yards through any given town by a select group of runners....the rest of the time its ferried between towns by a fleet of four buses all sponsored by Coke.

It just lost it's magic to me when I found that out, it's more like a 'pass the flame' than a torch relay

Just think how much money it would have saved if they had just made the one torch. Mind you they were probably making a profit on them before they went on ebay.

Just think how many jobs would have been lost if they had only made one torch and not the 8,000 or so that they did make.

Do you think that the company that made them took on extra staff just for this job or that by having this job, some staff were saved from redundancy?

It's not just the making of the torches is it.
