Cabbie awaits sentence for driving while bannedPublished: 18/06/2012A cabbie with nine previous motoring convictions was caught again – this time while driving without a licence.
Martin Parrish, 31, of Goldington Road, Bedford, was stopped by police on February 16 in Cleveland Street, Bedford despite being banned from driving.
Upon being pulled over, he gave his brother’s details before admitting to not being road-legal. Parrish, who was originally disqualified from driving in 2009, revealed that he needed to drive having been sent to Wootton by his employer to distribute leaflets.
At Bedford Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday he claimed to have had a difficult life, saying he would often be working from 10pm until either 3am or even 9am the following morning.
The court heard that he also earned £249-a-week as a cab driver.
Parrish pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified and having no insurance.
He told the court he had since found a job that does not require driving.
Magistrates adjourned the sentencing until later this month and he is to remain off the road until then.
