In fridays liverpool echo head line "Driver hit over the head in robbery "Two people took part in a robbery, in which a taxi driver was struck with a peice of brick have been locked up . This is an all to familiar story . Many of which go unreported . Surly the time has come , for Private hire vehicles , to only be licensed if they have a screen ,between the driver and passengers . In a factory if you have some thing realy dangrous and you dont have a guard infront of it , the H S C will fine you . Whats the difference, or are taxi drivers second class citizens. |

I think most saloon drivers, be they PH or HC, only consider the dangers when something happens to them or their mates.
I suppose its the one of the few benefits of the DDA in relation to HCs, but I can't ever see that being enforced on PH. Rightly or wrongly. There are a few screens that can be used in saloons, but I doubt less than a tenth of 1% of cars either have one, or intend to have one.
