Taxi Driver Injured In Road Accident Airlifted To Hospital Monday 25th June 2012 A taxi driver was airlifted to hospital on Saturday 23rd June after a road accident which resulted in the taxi leaving the road and coming to a stop in a nearby field. Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance were able to land in a field adjacent to the incident, which took place in Chesterfield. The 52-year-old male was immobilised on a long board stretcher and had a neck collar applied, before being airlifted to Sheffield Northern General Hospital where a trauma team were waiting to provide him with further treatment. A spokesperson from DLRAA said: "Due to the nature of the casualty's injuries, it was necessary to take him to a hospital that had a trauma centre. By taking casualties to hospital via Air Ambulance, we can ensure that they receive the most appropriate treatment for their injuries that they need, as quickly as possible."
